About Me

Hi I’m Cathy. Not THE Cathy (if you’re a Ben Folds fan you’ll understand). If you’re wondering, “Why the name?” Well it’s simple. I have been using the name for years, ever since AOL Instant Messenger (aka AIM). Also, it’s a beautifully, genuine song that has “Cathy” in the title… spelled correctly! No offense to all the “Kathy’s”, “Cathie’s”, etc. out there! More importantly, it’s good title for what I want this blog to represent, carrying myself through experiences on my travels.

I’m mixed-race– an Indonesian born, USA raised girl who was destined for a life of adventure. I was very fortunate to be able to travel to countries in Asia, Europe, and North America at a young age; however, I was sparked by starting this journal because of my trip to New Zealand in February 2014. I left Phoenix, Arizona for what I thought would be 3 months, but it turned out to be over a year and counting. I’ve been wanting to write my thoughts and experiences for a long time, but for some reason I always got in my way. Skeptical of this blogging world and annoyed at social media, I started researching a bit more and found some great people out there. I thought to myself, “Yay! The internet isn’t just filled of filth.” So here I am starting this new chapter in my life.

I can be sarcastic without realizing it… some even call me Sassy, but I guess it could be worse. I am not perfect. I am not a professional. I don’t have it all figured out. I break into random song/dance/accent/yelling/rambling bursts. I’m weird and I don’t care. I am broken. I love God, although I’m not always good at showing it. I enjoy eating lots of food, drinking lots of coffee, and seeing lots beautiful places. I love learning about culture, perspective, and people.

I’m still learning how to live my life and face changes all of the time, so this “About Me” page will probably do the same. All in all, this is just a weirdo’s view on our wanderful world and what I learn along the way. I hope you will carry yourself with me because I could learn a lot from you too.
